Despite the RG name, the RG52 has the rounded-edge body style and swoopy, rounded headstock of the older Roadstar body. It has a tone chamber routed out of the body beneath the pickguard. The RG52 features a chambered basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include dual Ibanez humbucking pickups with individual volume controls and Duo-Sound coil-tap functionality and a Powerocker Special tremolo bridge. The RG50 was offered only in Japan and was discontinued after 1986.
