  • A Radscanner (also known as a Rad-CAS) is a more sophisticated and powerful form of the radiation detector found in a toxyrad gauge. Many environmental specialists carry one to supplement the equipment found in a standard Envirokit. In addition to detecting dangerous radiation, radscanners can determine the exact type of radiation(s) present, the intensity of each, and whether the radiation is ambient or directional. With this information, the device can offer an estimated amount of safe exposure for an average member of Frontier or Rim sentient races. Through the use of filters and by changing the orientation of the scanner, a skilled environmentalist can often track a localized radiation source (requires an Environmental skill check).
