Hōjō (北条, Assistance, "Hojo") is a school friend of Kagome Higurashi who has a crush on her and constantly attempts to go on dates with her, though Kagome usually forgets about them due to her frequent trips to the feudal era. Hōjō is one of Kagome's top three romantic interests, although he is the only love rival of Inuyasha who the hanyō never meets, as he has only limited contact with Kagome's friends in the modern era. Hōjō is a good student and very popular; as such, Kagome's close friends (Eri, Yuka, and Ayumi) constantly try to set her up with him, and consider him superior to Inuyasha, who they believe is merely a delinquent, due to a misunderstanding of what little Kagome tells them. Hōjō is constantly giving Kagome medicinal items to help her with her fictitious chronic illnesses

- The Hōjō clan or the Late Hōjō clan (後北条氏, Go-Hōjōshi) was a large clan that traces its lineage back to the 16th century. One of their distant relatives includes the Fukushima family. The Samurai Warriors series distinguishes them with the color black. Their main code of arms is based on a tale found in the Taiheiki. When Benzaiten of Enoshima was praying for the prosperity of her descendants, the beautiful woman's prayers were answered by the arrival of a large snake. The serpent left three of its scales and disappeared. It is said that Benzaiten was pleased with her gift and took the scales.
- Hōjō (北条 dt.

| - The Hōjō clan or the Late Hōjō clan (後北条氏, Go-Hōjōshi) was a large clan that traces its lineage back to the 16th century. One of their distant relatives includes the Fukushima family. The Samurai Warriors series distinguishes them with the color black. The clan's founder was Ise Shinkurō (posthumously Hojo Sōun) who claimed the clan's foundations from the rest of the Ise clan. His son established the Hojo name and gained influence with the Kamakura shogunate through political marriage. Their fortune and political power quickly earned them allies and made them targets of many would-be conquerors. At their prime, they had seventeen clans serving them and 476 vassals at their disposal.

Hōjō is constantly giving Kagome medicinal items to help her with her fictitious chronic illnesses, having been taken in by Kagome's grandfather's make-believe cover stories for her frequent absences at schools. His interest in Kagome and his health-conscious lifestyle are two personality traits with which he has in common with his feudal ancestor, Akitoki Hōjō.
