  • Rolland was born on a unusual night within the bowels of castle Blackmire. Jesende, his mother, went into labor for almost exactly twelve hours. Soon after the birthing was done, a crying baby boy with green eyes and chestnut brown hair was born into this world -- his name was Rolland. Rolland grew up as a typical noble boy, being educated in all manners of life, such as history, martial education, and so forth. During his teenage years, Rolland developed a loving bond with his youngest brother Pelagius Brackwater; however, his relationship with his brother Haythem Brackwater was far from loving, and one could say the two even hated each other. They would fight constantly, and there was even a rumor that Haythem had Rolland's first teenage crush killed, and that he had purportedly hired a gang of men to rape and slaughter the girl. It was a rumor nonetheless, but Rolland truly did despise his brother, and still does to this day. Around the age of fifteen, Rolland joined the Andorasi military, under King Aeramor Dragomyr. A fine soldier he was; he was seldom beaten during duels, and remained as a soldier even after taking the crown of the Wetlands later in life. During the Thysian Conflict, King Aeramor perished upon his vessel during the bloody naval skirmish, something Rolland would never forgive himself for not being able to save his king. This, however, would be a small curse upon Rolland, some would say.
