| - The President of the Federation of Zardugal is the symbolic and nominal head of state of Federation of Zardugal. Technically, the President is the highest-ranking public official in Zardugal, and is also the commander-in-chief of the military. However, actual power is vested in the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, as the President is legally bound to exercise his executive powers on the advice of the Prime Minister. The President's only actual function is to act as the chief diplomatic officer of Zardugal. The Presidency is contested at every federal general election, which generally occurs once every three years unless an early election is called. If an initial round of popular voting fails to elect a presidential candidate with a majority of the votes, a run-off round involving the top two finishers will decide the winner of the presidential election. The President has access to a large number of amenities, such as an Air Army-operated private jet, a presidential bus, the Presidential Palace in Belgae and the Presidential Retreat in Venetium, Ingomu. The current President is Silas Francisco of the Socialist Workers' Party. He entered office on June 9, 3350 after defeating Alexander Wiencek, son of Jacob M. Wiencek, in a run-off. In modern times since the refomation of the Federation after the fall of the Augustan Empire (3607) the Presidency has taken a prime role in Zardic politics and wields a large degree of formal and informal political power within the political system.
