After the original Falcon fighter was canceled, a number of the prototypes were requisitioned by Misriah Armories for further development. Initially serving as testbeds for experimental technology, they were used to develop new technologies for the UNSC. The results of these, such as improved target acquisition and designation systems, improved avionics, and missile systems, were later incorporated into other craft, such as the SkyHawk and the Longsword, but it lead to the development of the of a new fighter called the AF-16 Eagle which has a number of technical innovations and upgrades. When Misriah showed it to the UNSC, they were impressed enough to fund further development and orders as a new strike fighter to replace the SkyHawk.
