  • Staff of power is a very rare type of weapon in ADOM. Like a quicksilver quarterstaff, staff of the magi or staff of smiting, a staff of power is a separate type of item from other staves with generic prefixes or suffixes. A staff of power has base stats of (+0, 1d10+2), though both to-hit and damage may be slightly higher or lower for individual staves. Wielding one grants boosts of +4 to Willpower (can be up to +7), +1 to DV and +1 to PV. In their unidentified form, staves of power look just like regular quarterstaves.
  • Staff of power (aka the dark staff) is a magic staff that grants one's wishes. It may not necessarily require the user to have been born into magic, simply thinking about something is enough for it work. It was originally Owen's Staff, but was later stolen by Telgrin. Alexander uses it for a while to escape a few encounters before returning it to Owen. It has a long dark shaft with a crystal at the top. The crystal often glows when casting spells or lights up during the illumination/radiance spell.
  • The Staff of Power is the name given to a number of incredibly powerful artefacts. Thought to have been created in the eighteenth century OT, it is possible that they are in fact older than this, pre-dating even the Time of Heroes, and were simply first rediscovered in the eighteenth century OT. The Staves appear to have been created by powerful wizards and judging by their design, these wizards were not of a Good persuasion. Following the destruction of the armies of Evil in 1998OT, attempts were made to destroy those Staves, but to no avail, thus they were given in secret into the keeping of various wizard fraternities spread across Titan.
  • Set, Hathor, Thoth were three aliens that were banished from their planet for an unknown reason. They decided to escape to Planet Earth and began to force the people of Ancient Egypt to build them enormous monuments in the form of pyramids. Set wished to rule over his subjects through force, often using the Staff of Power to show his superiority. It was called into action when Sonic the Hedgehog and Amy Rose arrived on the planet, with Sonic doubting Set's existence. Set fired the staff at the hedgehogs, showing his power. However, this brash display unnerved Hathor, who wished to command respect through love, and Thoth, who wanted to rule through wisdom. Set's authority crumbled further when Sonic stole the Staff of Power, exposing the alien as a false deity. As Sonic turned to leave, Set
  • The Staff of Power is a powerful quarterstaff that can be used by mages and sorcerers. It can be created by your apprentices during the Mage Stronghold Quest Claiming the Sphere in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition. Your apprentices will need 10.000 gold. However it is not certain that they will be able to create the item, and all the three of them will surely die in the attempt.

Desirability
  • Like most weapons, they are useful until a better weapon is found. Although the bonuses are a lot better than nothing, for spellcasters or mindcrafters there are generally more beneficial items to wield instead . A staff of power with a high Wi bonus could, however, be situationally useful.

Sources
  • Staves of power can be randomly generated as all other generic loot, though they are very rare. It is possible to find one in the guaranteed sources of two-handed weapons, Darkforge and the Small Cave. Like other 'naturally' prefixed or suffixed weapons, the player could wish for some.
