Milliways is the restaurant at the end of the universe. It connects most of the worlds known in Effulgence, providing doors to "interesting people", in place of the door they expected, at whim. It has an infinite menu and is managed by a sentient bar known only as Bar who typically communicates by writing on drink napkins.

- Milliways was a restaurant that had a location on Deep Space 9's Promenade, at address 02-984. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine set decoration) Milliways was visible on the Promenade directory, which contained a number of references to other science fiction works, including this reference to The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. In that book, Douglas Adams' second installment in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, Milliways was the official name of the titular restaurant. As a humorous remark, Ten Forward became the "restaurant at the end of the universe" in "Remember Me" , when Beverly Crusher's universe started to collapse.
- Reservations are easily obtained, since they can be booked once the patron returns to his or her original time after their meal, and the restaurant's bill can be paid by depositing a penny in any bank account of the present time: by the end of the universe, the compound interest on that penny over the course of time after 170 quintillion years (short scale) will be enough to pay the extremely high bill. Near-instant transportation to the restaurant can be achieved in certain rarefied circumstances, such as being next to an exploding hyperspatial field generator on the planet where Milliways will eventually be built several billion years after the explosion occurs. Or have access to a Infinite Improbability Drive, such as The Heart of Gold.
- Milliways, also known as The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, can only be visited practically by time travel, as it exists at the end of time and matter. It is possible to reach Milliways without the use of time travel, merely by being very patient. One of the restaurant's major attractions is that diners can watch the entire universe end around them as they eat. The terminal moment is followed by dessert. It is possible to reach Milliways without the use of time travel, merely by being very patient. One of the restaurant's major attractions is that diners can watch the entire universe end around them as they eat. The terminal moment is followed by dessert. Reservations are easily obtained, since they can be booked once the patron returns to his or her original time after their meal, and the restaurant's bill can be paid by depositing a penny in any bank account of the present time: by the end of the universe, compound interest will be enough to pay the extremely high bill. Near-instant transportation to the restaurant can be achieved in certain rarefied circumstances, such as being next to an exploding hyperspatial field generator on the planet where Milliways will eventually be built several billion years after the explosion occurs. Among the items on the menu are various cuts of meat from the very obliging Ameglian Major Cow and the slightly less obliging vegetables in a green salad. While water and Aldebaran liqeurs are in stock, tea is not. Because of the special number of impossibilities surrounding all aspects of Milliways, their advertising firm penned the following slogan: "If you've done six impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Milliways—the Restaurant at the End of the Universe!"
