The Southwest Islands are probably based on the Azores and Canary Islands. They lay, as the name may suggest, southwest of the Continent. They are the only known islands in the Endless Ocean. The isles are currently owned by Arrida; the Arridi get coffee "Kafay" there and ship them in to Al Shabah from where they are traded to Toscano; many Toscano are addicted to it. The Arridi also buy slaves from the lands south of the desert here and sell them to other nations.
