"Does the Iron Bank give loans to individuals, or just to kings?"
"Why send Jon? Is this part of your plan for him to prove himself?"
"Not yet," the maester promises. "But if the Iron Bank gives us a loan, they commit to helping us repay it. That's a good deterrant for our enemies."
"Are [Your Holding]'s finances in such dire need already?"
"A good point. If the Iron Bank is behind us, we need less support from the crown."
"I don't konw. I don't like the idea of being in debt to the Iron Bank."
"I'll talk to Jon, see if he feels ready to go to Braavos for us."
"The bank deals with everyone, great and small -- entire kingdoms and three-man sellsword companies. As long as you can pay," Maester Lucas replies.
"We've lost too much commerce to the Chernoffs. We might want to approach the Iron Bank for a loan," Maester Lucas suggests. "Perhaps Jon can go."
Maester Lucas nods. "Jon can go to Braavos and represent [Your Holding]. He'll negotiate with the bank and make alliances. It's just what he needs to learn.
