The 1963 Atlanta 500 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 17, 1963. Fred Lorenzen took control of the race late, leading just 67 of the 334 laps, but pulled away to a one-lap, six-second victory on Jim Paschal. Eventual season champ Joe Weatherly finished 4th. Stats
