  • Morgan le Fey (also known as "Morgana" or "Morgraine") is a sorceress who is the nemesis of King Arthur in most versions of the legend of the ruler of Camelot, England. She also is a character who appeared in the Smurfs cartoon show Season 9 episode "The Smurfs Of The Round Table", in which she sought to gain control over the kingdom through Arthur's enchanted sword Excalibur. In the story, Morgan le Fey appeared initially in the form of a hawk at a jousting tournament along with her acolyte the Dark Knight. After stealing Excalibur from King Arthur, she turned back to human form and used the sword's magic to turn him and his men to wax (with the exception of Sir Lancelot, who was shrunk to Smurf size, and Merlin the magician, who was turned into a rock, albeit a sentient one. She then cast a spell on the sun to make it burn hotter so that King Arthur and all the knights of Camelot turned into wax would melt into nothingness, leaving her to rule over England unopposed. The time-lost Smurfs who appeared in Camelot when this happened, split up into two groups, one group to stay behind to keep King Arthur and his men from completely melting with the aid of a home-made giant fan; the other group led by Papa Smurf going with Sir Lancelot and Merlin (despite their enchanted state) to confront Morgan le Fey and to retrieve Excalibur from her. Morgan sent the Dark Knight to deal with the Smurfs, but Papa Smurf with the help of Merlin and his sentient magic wand Sir Will pinned the Dark Knight to a giant rock by using a spell of magnetism on the rock, which captured the Smurfs as well until Papa Smurf turned his armor and those of his little Smurfs' into wood. Seeing her Dark Knight fail, Morgan appeared outside her castle to deal with the Smurfs herself, at first casting a spell that made a giant frying pan appear beneath their feet to fry them. Papa Smurf countered this by making a giant bucket of water appear over them to douse the feet and make the frying pan disappear. Morgan then created a three-headed hellhound to deal with the Smurfs, which only succeeded in making Merlin, still trapped in a rock form, roll down a hill and sink down to the bottom of a brook, preventing him from further helping the Smurfs. Papa Smurf countered this by turning a bush into a three-headed hellcat for the hellhound to chase after instead. Morgan decided to use Excalibur's power to destroy the Smurfs where they stood, but while she was about to do this, the Dark Knight appeared on the scene, still pinned to the giant rock that was magnetized. Excalibur was wrenched from her grasp, and without that power, Papa Smurf and Sir Will transformed her into a harmless mouse, which the three-headed hellcat ended up chasing after.

Morgan lived in a castle somewhere in Europe (or in some other plane of existence) that was constantly besieged by an army of demons, demanding collection of what Morgan had promised in exchange for her sorcerous powers. After Alice Monaghan was poisoned, Hellboy brought her in desperation to Morgan's castle. Morgan cured Alice, while revealing to Hellboy the true of his ancestry and urging him to take up the sword and claim his birthright. Hellboy, reluctant, asked why she cared, since she and everyone else she had cared about were long dead. She said simply, her son should have been king, so she will settle for making Hellboy king. During the events of The Storm and The Fury, Morgan approached Gruagach, who had released the Queen of Blood from her prison, and so unwittingly caused the death of Queen Mab and the extinction of his own race. Although Merlin had cursed Gruagach to remain in the world for eternity and see the ruin of his own people, Morgan took pity on him, lifted the curse, and took him away from the carnage on Earth. Merlin, still trapped in the grave where the Queen had imprisoned him, could only howl impotently in protest.
