Vector the Crocodile reveals they are here to look for Nack the Weasel and Espio the Chameleon states he escaped from the prison hospital where he was nursing wounds suffered from a Metallix. He somehow acquired a treasure map of the Lost Pyramid of Sandopolis and has arrived on the island. Requiring permission to search for him, Vector and the crew are joined by Knuckles and the team head to the Sandopolis Zone. Sure enough, Nack's vehicle is parked outside the pyramid, which has once again been raised from under the sand. Inside, the team are attacked by the Sandopolis Ghosts and Espio is left chilled to the bone after a punch from one of the guardians. Running into the Lost Tomb, the heroes catch up with Nack. Knuckles is confused, since the room should be filled with sand and treasure. Nack has used a shrinking ray to miniaturise the sand, allowing entry, before doing the same to the treasure so he can carry it all home. On his way out, Nack summons a Stone Guardian to fight his former friends. However, he has left his shrinking device behind, allowing Knuckles to shoot the guardian, shrinking it to a tiny size. Outside, Nack has already taken off and Charmy Bee isn't strong enough to tackle him. Fortunately, Knuckles has deduced that the shrinking device can restore items to their previous size, doing just that to the treasure in Nack's ship. The treasure grows and explodes the ship, leaving Nack to fall into Mighty the Armadillo's waiting arms. As Chaotix head back to the Special Zone, Knuckles is left to pick up all the scattered treasure.
