  • Albert Hague (1920-2001) was a Tony-award winning composer who gained a second career as a character actor through his portrayal of stern music teacher Professor Benjamin Shorofsky in the film and subsequent television series Fame. In 1983, he was interviewed in Muppet Magazine issue 2, along with Debbie Allen and the rest of the Fame cast. Born in Berlin, Germany, Hague fled his native country in 1937, thus avoiding inscription into the Hitler Youth. After WWII, Hague slowly established himself as a Broadway composer, and penned such pop tunes as "Young and Foolish" and "One is a Lonely Number." He composed the music for the 1959 Broadway musical Redhead, netting a Tony award, and also scored the 1966 animated Dr. Seuss special How The Grinch Stole Christmas, notably contributing "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." As an actor, Hague appeared sporadically in film and television productions following his exposure from Fame, often playing psychiatrists or professors. His credits included Space Jam, The Story of Us (with Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer), and episodes of Falcon Crest, Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre, and Beauty and the Beast.
