The base of the African Tower located in the northern foothills of Mt. Kenya southwest of Meru, Kenya. The site was selected because the local geology offered a solid bedrock foundation. The Tower is two miles in diameter at its base. This dimension tapers in gradually to a diameter of one mile at five miles in altitude.
