Snow making is a use of water by ski areas usually at high altitude in mountainous areas to make snow supplementing natural snow, usually early in the ski season to compensate for lack of natural snow. Obtaining water rights in such situations, for example, in Colorado where the appropriation of water by senior users has exhausted the available supply can be difficult.
