Some research projects were set back years, and even decades due to the crash and ensuing chaos, which saw many key research personnel killed. With improved file recovery and decryption techniques, as well as detective work and pure luck, it is possible to recover some lost tech. While as time passes, some lost tech becomes truly obsolete and useless, there are still gems to be found. For example, rediscovery of piece of lost tech related to research to allow snooping on previously unbreakable optic communication nearly triggered a world wide war in 2053.
