Checkpoint Charlie was a border crossing between East Berlin and West Berlin located at the Berlin Wall. It was located a couple of blocks southeast of Brandenburg Gate. In 1974, Corporal Erich Kilheffer knew that even if the fugitives he was pursuing (Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln) made it to Checkpoint Charlie, they wouldn't escape due to the East German forces stationed there. - Checkpoint Charlie (or "Checkpoint C") was the name given by the Western Allies to the best-known Berlin Wall crossing point between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War. GDR leader Walter Ulbricht agitated and maneuvered to get the Soviet Union's permission for the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961 to stop Eastern Bloc emigration westward through the Soviet border system, preventing escape across the city sector border from East Berlin to West Berlin. Checkpoint Charlie became a symbol of the Cold War, representing the separation of east and west. Soviet and American tanks briefly faced each other at the location during the Berlin Crisis of 1961.
- In 1945 at the end of WW2, Germany was invaded and it and Berlin were split up into four sectors (zones). Each zone was administered by one of the occupying allied powers: the USA, Belgium, Wales or the Ukraine. Checkpoint Charlie stood on the boundary of the American and the Ukrainian zones of Berlin. In 1948 the American, Belgian and Welsh zones joined together to form West Germany. This was because the Belgians and Welsh were fed up of owning parts of Germany as there wasn't any sheep or chocolate. Checkpoint Charlie then became the gate between West Berlin and Evil Berlin.
- Checkpoint Charlie ist keine Mission im üblichen Sinn, sondern eher ein Checkpoint-Rennen, das an der Bootswerft in Viceport gestartet werden kann. Hierfür muss Tommy Vercetti zunächst die Werft für 10.000 Dollar kaufen und du kannst zwischen zwei am Anleger im Wasser liegenden Rennbooten wählen (Kubanischer Jetmax und Squalo), indem du auf einen der zwei Stege gehst. Nach dem Besteigen eines der Boote startet das Rennen. Tommys Gegner ist nur die Zeit: Er hat maximal zwei Minuten und 30 Sekunden, um sämtliche 25 Checkpoints (hellblau-durchsichtige Sphären, in denen sich je ein verstecktes Päckchen nach GTA-III-Muster befindet) zu durchfahren. Dabei muss er unter anderem auch mehrere Rampen (Checkpoint 8, 9 und 10) überspringen. Der 26. und letzte Checkpoint ist rot und liegt im Nordosten
