A Field Brace is a structural element found in most Imperial voidships. A Field Brace is a form of gravitic power field generator similar to a Void Shield generator that is used to reinforce a voidship's hull and structural integrity. It is often deployed by a voidship's crew after the vessel has suffered some form of hull damage to provide a temporary repair that will allow the ship to continue current operations until it can be more fully repaired at a void station or orbital shipyard. Though a Field Brace does not generate a protective force as powerful as true Void Shields, its use can greatly reinforce a vessel's structural integrity under duress as long as it is powered up.
