Az-Iban was an eccentric smuggler who flew the Rampaging Ranat, a YT-2400 light freighter. The Force-sensitive Kowakian monkey-lizard Picaroon C. Boodle was Iban's pet and first mate, until Eriadu forces quarantined Pic, accusing him of carrying Cyborrean rabies. Az-Iban was a secretive person, and concealed his routes from his competition. Unfortunately for him, this made it easy for Morturr Heth, a Disac pirate and four other survivors of that fleet to seize his vessel and take his identity and that of his crew. It was uncertain what happened to Az-Iban, but he was almost certainly killed.

| - Az-Iban was an eccentric smuggler who flew the Rampaging Ranat, a YT-2400 light freighter. The Force-sensitive Kowakian monkey-lizard Picaroon C. Boodle was Iban's pet and first mate, until Eriadu forces quarantined Pic, accusing him of carrying Cyborrean rabies. Az-Iban was a secretive person, and concealed his routes from his competition. Unfortunately for him, this made it easy for Morturr Heth, a Disac pirate and four other survivors of that fleet to seize his vessel and take his identity and that of his crew. It was uncertain what happened to Az-Iban, but he was almost certainly killed. The false Az-Iban later participated in a race near Novolek Beacon organized by Mal Biron which was intended to pick the most skilled smugglers for employment by the Black Sun vigo Sprax. The second part of the race, near the Salin Corridor, was a rendezvous with the Destination: Adventure!, a luxury spaceliner. Heth and his crew then attacked the liner and the other competitors with the aid of other pirates positioned nearby.

Boodle era allo stesso tempo l'animale e il primo ufficiale di Iban, fino a quando le forze dell'ordine di Eriadu misero Pic in quarantena, accusandolo di essere affetto dalla Rabbia Cyborreana. Az-Iban era una persona riservata, e nascondeva le rotte che seguiva alla concorrenza. Purtroppo per lui questo rese più facile al pirata Disac Morturr Heth, assieme ad altri quattro superstiti di quel gruppo di pirati, sequestrare la sua nave e rubare l'identità sua e del suo equipaggio. E' ignoto cosa fosse successo al contrabbandiere, ma quasi certamente venne ucciso per far sparire le prove dell'aggressione e sostituzione dell'equipaggio del Ranat. In seguito il falso Az-Iban partecipò ad una gara nei pressi della pulsar Radiofaro Novolek organizzata dall'agente del Sole Nero Mal Biron con lo scopo di selezionare i più abili contrabbandieri per l'organizazzione criminale del Vigo Sprax. La seconda parte della gara, svoltasi nei pressi del Corridoio Salin, era un appuntamento con la Destination: Adventure!, una nave di linea di lusso. Heth e i suoi uomini attaccarono il transatlantico e gli altri concorrenti con l'ausilio di altri pirati posizionati nelle vicinanze.
