She first came to the public attention in 1995 when she played the regular role of P.C. Habib in The Thin Blue Line and appeared in series such as Barbara, Casualty, Doctors and Shameless. More recently she has had a regular role in the Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures from 2008-2011. Mina also appeared in House of Anubis for three series' as housekeeper Trudy. On Coronation Street she appeared as Ravinder Kalirai, the mother of Amber Kalirai, irregularly between November 2005 and May 2006.
