| - by user False Prophet On behalf of their 12 year old grand daughter, 2 Grandparents are pressing charges that amount to $400,000 against the Chicago board of Education, the granddaughter's Principal, and a substitute teacher. Sounds odd, right? Well, what happened was this: the 6th grade girl showed up to school one day, and there was a substitute teacher. The teacher has a student shut the classroom door, and says "What happens in my classroom, stays in my classroom," almost identical to the Vegas Slogan, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." No, this is not a story about a teacher having sex with students (sorry, the 90's ended seven years ago), but instead, is about a movie. Not just any move, but a certain movie. Brokeback Mountain. Yes, the substitute teacher showed a class of sixth graders Brokeback Mountain in class. Students were expected to stay in the classroom the entire time, and obeyed. I have no problem with gay sex, nor with gay marriage, but the problem here is even simpler. There are several problems with the movie that make it totally inappropriate to show to them. First, this was done by a SUBSTITUTE TEACHER without permission from the parents. Even any teacher showing kids a PG-13 movie in 6th grade without parental consent is wrong. It's just not right. Next, there is sex in the movie. Gay, Straight, or oral, sex is sex, and does not belong in a Movie shown to elementary school kids. Beyond everything, there is offensive language, and strong violence used in the Movie. What kind of teacher thinks its appropriate to do this? Also, supposedly, the Principal knew of this. I don't care what you think about any of the subjects involved in the movie, but you all have to agree with me that this is just plain wrong. I hope that the Grandparents not only win this case, but get even more money from this corrupt system. I hope this type of thing stops soon, as it really is a tragedy for all of us. __NOEDITSECTION__ From The Opinion Wiki, a Wikia wiki. From The Opinion Wiki, a Wikia wiki.
