Manuel Acuña Roxas ( 1 January Capiz, Angeles, 1892 - april 15, 1948) was from 1946 until his death in 1948 the 5th Philippine president. Roxas won the elections of 1946 Sergio Osmeña 's and became the first president of an independent Philippines. Roxas died of a heart attack during his presidency after giving a speech at Clark Air Base and was succeeded by Vice-President Elpidio Quirino.
