| - For many years, several children of Shanazar were chosen (or volunteered) to become vessels for the genies of the Mystic Mountain. Since they could not leave the mountain in their gaseous forms, the genies required the children to be their hosts, allowing them to maintain a solid form when called upon. For five years, the children would be able to call upon genies to grant their every wish. However, after these five years, the children would die and the genies would become truly free. Despite their short lives, the children and their families consider the ritual to be a great honour. Fajar and Prank are possibly two people who have taken part in the ritual.

As part of his duties as Grand Vizier, Doctor Kintobor was ordered by Princess Kupacious to accompany the children and her Imperial Guards to the ritual. However, he transformed into Doctor Robotnik shortly after and both he and Sonic the Hedgehog attempted to stop the ritual. In a central chamber, the children began to open their bodies by communicating through the Mystic Globe. As soon as Sonic learned the true nature of the ritual, he smashed the globe, effectively ending any future chance of the genies gaining freedom. Despite this, Robotnik still offered to provide the genies with more children.
