The United States Presidential election of 1984 was held on November _, 1984 to elect a President of the United States. Incumbent Democrat George Bush was re-elected with 61% of the popular vote and won an electoral college landslide, winning 32 of 33 states against Socialist Walter Mondale of Minnesota, a former Vice President who won only his home state and the District of Columbia. It was the largest landslide in 20th century US Presidential history. Notably, Mondale selected Geraldine Ferraro as his running mate, making her the first woman selected to a major-party ticket.
