Gilbert Anthony "Rick" Foley (born September 22, 1945) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played 67 National Hockey League (NHL) games with the Chicago Black Hawks, Philadelphia Flyers, and Detroit Red Wings. He also played 11 World Hockey Association (WHA) games with the Toronto Toros. He was a tough, physical defenceman. Foley played 11 games for the Toronto Toros of the World Hockey Association in 1975-76. He then played 2 years of senior hockey in Brantford and retired in 1978.

  • Gilbert Anthony "Rick" Foley (born September 22, 1945) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played 67 National Hockey League (NHL) games with the Chicago Black Hawks, Philadelphia Flyers, and Detroit Red Wings. He also played 11 World Hockey Association (WHA) games with the Toronto Toros. He was a tough, physical defenceman. He played Junior "A" for the Toronto Marlboros and the Oshawa Generals and Junior "B" for the St. Thomas Barons. He was the property of the Toronto Maple Leafs but ended up with the Chicago Blackhawks. After playing in the minor pros form 1966-1970 he finally played 2 games for the Hawks in 1970-71. In 1971 Foley was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers for AndrĂ© Lacroix. He played in 58 games for the Flyers in 1971-72, scoring 11 goals and 25 assists that season. The next season found him back in the minors, though, and he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings for Serge Lajeunesse in 1973. After only 7 games with the Wings he was sent back to the minors. Foley played 11 games for the Toronto Toros of the World Hockey Association in 1975-76. He then played 2 years of senior hockey in Brantford and retired in 1978. In the NHL, Foley played in 67 games and scored 11 goals and 26 assists with 180 penalty minutes.
