| - A Tsuchigumo will often look like a spider eight arms spider-like arms and two Human-like legs. At the end of each thin arms is a hand that is identical to Human with the exeption of sharp nails and skinny fingers. In the transformation from the Human form to monster form, the back will burge out and act like an abdomen of a spider. The mouths will also alter into a set of manacing manibles while the face shrivel up a little to fit it. The chest and the stomach area will become slightly segmented to show each arm joints.
- They are one of three ancient clans who once dominated in Nakatsu Kuni's lore, the others being the Himuka Clan and the Star Clan. Tsuchigumo are associated with the moon and water. Since they aren't mentioned in later records or legends within the parallel world, it can be assumed that they fazed out of existence or were eventually forgotten.

- The Tsuchigumo are literally "earth spiders." In Japanese mythology, Tsuchigumo were spider-limbed monsters. Tsuchigumo were evidently based on one of the groups of people inhabiting Japan.
- The first Douji & Hime parent pairing seen in the series, feeding the Tsuchigumo humans whom they capture in their webs. Hearing of a Tschigumo at Yakushima, Hibiki destroys the Douji while his female counterpart later attempted to offer Asumu Adachi to her Tsuchigumo child, only to end up being devoured by it. Another pair were later evolved by "Armored" Black Puppet Hime along with their Yoroi Tsuchigumo child.
- Tsuchigumo was a minion for the Gama clan. However, after the murder of general Hayabusa, he joins Gamu together with Tsubakuro and Oboro.
- The Tsuchigumo (土蜘蛛?), also called Yatsukahagi (八握脛?), were a people of ancient Japan, believed to have lived in the Japanese Alps until at least the Asuka period. The name means "ground spider", likely due to perceived physical traits that were later exaggerated or embellished. Folklore attributes a race of underground dwarves called the Tsuchigumo to the Japanese Alps; later, the Ainu in Hokkaido had a legend of korpokunkur or koropok-guru, also underground dwarves, which they said they had exterminated. On the island of Shikotan, small underground dwellings were indeed discovered in the 1870s. However, little research has been done on this after the 1930s.
