| - The Mystic Knight's Spellblade allows the Mystic Knight to charge their sword with a spell. Spellblade requires the player to have the spell in question to use it. Spellblades ignore Defense and the Reflect status. Spellblade skillset is mostly made up of elemental spells, but includes also three status inflicting spells (Silence, Sleep, and Petrify) and three support spells (HP Absorb, MP Absorb, and Attack-up). status effect charged blades will incur that status 100% of the time as long as the attack connects. If the player uses Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga, Bio, or Holy on their Spellblade, their attack may act as an instant death attack against enemies weak to that element. Spellblade is disabled if the user is silenced.

If the player uses Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga, Bio, or Holy on their Spellblade, their attack may act as an instant death attack against enemies weak to that element. Spellblade is disabled if the user is silenced. The learnable spells are divided into six levels, and the advanced Spellblade techniques are some of the most powerful methods of destruction in the game. The effect lasts until the end of battle. Spellblade abilities give characters the Mystic Knight's base Strength and Magic based on the following formulas:
* Strength = Mystic Knight Strength - 2 * (7 - Mystic Knight Job Level)
* Magic = Mystic Knight Magic - 2 * (7 - Mystic Knight Job Level) However, the value of the base Magic granted this way is capped at the Mystic Knight's base. Thus the base Strength and Magic stats for a character with Spellblade equipped would be as follows:
* Level 1 = It's not normally possible to equip Spellblade with a level 1 Mystic Knight.
* Level 2 = 15 base Strength and 30 base Magic.
* Level 3 = 17 base Strength and 30 base Magic.
* Level 4 = 19 base Strength and 30 base Magic.
* Level 5 = 21 base Strength and 30 base Magic.
* Level 6 = 23 base Strength and 30 base Magic.
* Level 7 = 25 base Strength and 30 base Magic. The Spellblade command is leveled up when the party member earns AP in battle as a Mystic Knight. Leveling up the command allows it to be equipped to other jobs to perform spellblades of spells up to the learned level. Spellblade level 1 takes 20 AP to learn, level 2 takes 30, level 3 takes 50, level 4 takes 70, level 5 takes 100 and level 6 takes 400 AP. Upon mastery, Freelancers and Mimes gain the Mystic Knight's base stats unless they already have a higher base from another mastered job. They will also gain Magic Shell as an innate ability.
