| - The city of Fluviului is the capital city of Sodali Autonomous Province, and formerly the capital of New Endralon. The name, meaning "Great Delta" in the Kizenian language, was named after the major geographical feature of the region. The Marxstadt River Valley, through which the Marxstadt River drains essentially the entire province, was untamed for much of history. Its harsh climate, being on the "wrong side" of the Kuzaki Mountain range, left the area sparcely inhabited, as an exposed hinterland between Caille (in modern Egelion) and the Kuzaki federations. It was only in the delta region, where the flow of water kept it from freezing most winters, in which any significant animal life existed; in these areas, fur hunters (Kizenian, Kuzaki and Caillean alike) competed for the various resources available. In 1703, Captain Jonathan Roupert, sailing under the flag of the Endralonian Empire, entered Marxstadt Bay and established a temporary colony. Within a decade, Roupertville was an important city for trade between Endralon and its new Keris posessions. By 1750, most of the Kizenian and Kuzaki lands had been subjugated. In 2079, the city (along with the river and bay, which still bear their "new" names, the old ones having been lost to antiquity) became Nova Marxstadt, and the capital of the newly independent Socialist Republic of New Endralon. It was renamed Trantor in the wave of counter-communism of 2430, before officially taking its Kizenian name of Fluviului in 2789. In New Endralon, Nova Marxstadt was the hub of international trade, and the center of culture and government. Grand museums, colleges, and government buildings dotted the city's skyline, and all of the nation's rail lines had there origins in the city. Well into the 23rd Century, Nova Marxstadt was still majority Endralonian, despite the severe minority the group was in the nation as a whole. To this day, signs in Fluviului in Endralonian can be found, despite how few people today actually speak the language. The expansion of industrialization, and the spread of electricity in particular, allowed Fluviului to expand from a small but opulant port city into a grand metropolis. Its rampant expansion starting in the 23rd century grew the city to be the nation's largest, and most congested. By the 2700s, pressure to move the national capital away from Trantor was becoming unstoppable; despite the city's commercial importance, its size and location were impairing good governance.
