Tobiano is pinto coat pattern in horses. Tobianos usually have white on all four legs and rounded white spots on the body with crisp, sharp edges. The head is usually solid (same as body color) but may have standard face markings of star, stripe, blaze, etc. The white markings usually cross over the topline of the horse. Tobiano is a dominant gene, so only one copy is needed to show the coat pattern (heterozygous-nT). Two copies of the tobiano gene (homozygous-TT) usually produces the same amount of white but tends to have ink spots or paw prints. There is a genetic test for tobiano.
