The 1960 World 600 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on June 19, 1960. Joe Lee Johnson avoided the tire troubles that plagued most of the contenders all day, holding off Johnny Beauchamp by four laps to win the inagural running of NASCAR's longest race. It was Johnson's second and final victory. Eventual season champ Rex White finished 6th. Stats
