In the book, a man Jeb heeded an old gunslinger's advice to drop to the ground when being shot at which allowed him to kill Black Bart, making him catch "the first train to Boot Hill". In 1913, Jones took Ten Bullets to Tombstone with him on a visit to the Russian Empire and the gunslinger's advice helped Jones and his friend, Tamar Rustava, avoid being shot.
