(ENT: "First Flight") This character was only mentioned in writing. Marc Garneau was the first Canadian in space. He later served as President of the Canadian Space Agency and is currently a Member of Parliament for the Federal riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Westmount. He is also currently Canada's Minister of Transportation. The novels Federation and The Fall of Terok Nor (both by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens) discussed a Federation starship named the USS Garneau. The latter novel stated that the Garneau was Akira-class.
