abstract	Transitional Ethics is a concept whereby we return or restore an element of the environment using items, energy, methods etc. that draw on less-green or less-sustainable sources to begin with in order to jump-start a faster solution to the challenge of restoring nature's balance. This concept focuses on the "transition" from an unsustainable or environmentally damaging situation into a sustainable and environmentally-protective situation. In getting to the new and more preferred state, it may be necessary to consume energy sources and to use products or methods that are not environmentally benign nor sustainable in the long-term but that will ensure that something beneficial occurs rather than continuing degradation and deterioration. It is based on the reality that it has taken several hundreds of years to get into the unsustainable pickle we are now living in, so it will take quite some time to regain essential sustainability. In restoring, we seek to use the means for the greater good and to move through the impasse of sitting about and bemoaning the fate of the environment.
