Catalus, along with three other goblins (including Grack), travelled south and successfully kidnapped Jimmy and Jilly from a fox village. At Castle Morbidden, Catalus delivered the three foxes to the queen, then left in order to "make sure the corridors are clear" for the hunt. In fact, he prepared an ambush for the foxes. When they sought out the "secret hiding place" that he had mentioned earlier, he tried to kill them, but they managed to escape.
- Although his relationship with Vulpecula was strained, Catalus routinely performed duties for her, keen to avoid upsetting his queen and sister. One particular mission involved taking a team to the Nameless Zone in order to kidnap some fox cubs. His crime went perfectly well, although his escape was witnessed by Jimmy and Jilly's mother. Shaman Warpull was informed, leading to him summoning Tails to retrieve them and stop Catalus. With Vulpecula's prey evading her, it is unknown quite what punishment she had in mind for her brother (if, that is, she had any idea it was his fault they escaped).

Catalus intended to return these foxes to Castle Morbidden, as ordered, but kill them before the Queen could hunt them, thus depriving her of the satisfaction. To this end he convinced the young cubs that he was their friend (even letting them play with his sword) and that he was taking them to play "hide and seek" with the queen. He claimed that he would hide them so well that the queen would never find them, which they thought was a funny joke. Although Tails remained more suspicious when he caught up with them in his attempt to rescue the cubs, Jimmy and Jilly convinced him to play along. At Castle Morbidden, Catalus delivered the three foxes to the queen, then left in order to "make sure the corridors are clear" for the hunt. In fact, he prepared an ambush for the foxes. However, Catalus seemed perfectly charming, stopping assistant Grack from scaring Tails and cooly introduced the hero to the young cubs. Despite this, he ensured the delivery of all three foxes to Vulpecula, urging the foxes to find him Castle Morbidden so that Vulpecula couldn't enjoy her game. Unfortunately, his motives weren't for the foxes' benefit; Catalus merely wanted to spoil his sister's fun by killing the foxes. Using his sword, Catalus attempted to attack the small targets but managed to get his weapon stuck, giving them a headstart. He soon returned to the pursuit and located them on top of a bridge, but was unable to catch them before Tails flew them all over to Catalus' flying boat. With Vulpecula's prey evading her, it is unknown quite what punishment she had in mind for her brother (if, that is, she had any idea it was his fault they escaped).
