- The general Pocky resembles a light blue (originally grey) rotund domestic rabbit about half a meter tall, although their anatomy is remarkably humanoid. They have a large head with large grey eyes (originally black), a white furry muzzle, long ears with light peach inner ears, a long black nose, and two small front teeth. Other features include a smaller torso with a white belly, stubby hind legs, long three-toed feet with white tips, a white fluffy tail tassel and hair tuffs on their forehead. They also have small arms with five-fingered hands (although one instance shows they can also have regular paws). Show Pockies are also shown having pink fur however.

- In the Western regions since the second draft of Sonic Bible, Pocky was renamed Johnny Lightfoot, who has known to came from a large family like other animal friends.[1] In the British publication Sonic the Comic, the character Johnny Lightfoot is based on Pocky. Pocky is also the likely inspiration for Bunnie Rabbot-D'Coolette from the comics series made by Archie Comics, and the Sonic the Hedgehog animated series.
- Pocky are long, phallic bread sticks coated with chocolate. The bottom is left uncoated so that the consumer will be able to suck the pocky without getting his or her hands sticky. Pocky can be eaten slowly, sometimes by licking the sweet coating off before continuing on to finish the core, or more quickly, with a merciless approach that aims to bring as much pleasure as possible in a short time.

- Since "Pocky" is a registered trademark of Glico, works of fiction which feature them usually have to resort to Bland-Name Product naming. A variation is Pretz, a non-coated biscuit stick also made by Glico. Due to their quite common fondness for anime, it also shows up rather often in Western Web Comics. A party game often seen in anime is for two people (who may or may not be romantically-involved) to eat the same stick of Pocky from opposite ends, like a Spaghetti Kiss.
