Matt Trueman was the half-brother of Richard Sharpe. Whereas Sharpe was on the right side of the law (in the sense that he was in the army) Trueman was fighting against the law. With the price of everyday necessities rising in Yorkshire, Trueman started to raise angry feelings against the rich cotton millers. This placed a price on his head and Sharpe arrived in Yorkshire in 1814 to quell the rebellious feelings. Sharpe mounts an offensive against Trueman (to find out more read the synopsis on the Sharpe's Justice TV article) but discovers that he is his brother. Sharpe and Trueman team up, eventually leading to Trueman's death. Sharpe uncovers some plotters and restores peace and order, all his family dead - except for possibly his father, but no one knoes who he was.
