A Psychevore was a type of creature which fed on life or psychic energy. They were also referred to as "Mind Eaters" and "Psychic Vampires". Psychevores evolved on worlds with improbable ecologies where life drained life in a chain of vampirism until only a single creature was left, where natural selection turned back on itself to produce a creature that fed on life itself. The victims of psychevores were left as transparent husks that disintergrated when touched. In a 1992 survey, these creatures were the thing most feared by Russians. See also Psychovator

Psychevores included the Fendahl which sucked souls whole (TV: Image of the Fendahl) and the Mara which fed on raw emotion (TV: Kinda, Snakedance) as well as Huitzilin who fed on the psychic energy created by death and panic, sustaining himself on the public reaction to murderers and terrorists. (PROSE: The Left-Handed Hummingbird) The Saiph was a gestalt creature composed of psychevores. (AUDIO: The Stealers from Saiph) Additonally, the Lord of the Manor fed off the memories of his villagers like a "psychic vampire," (AUDIO: The Eternal Summer) and the Fourth Doctor described the Slinths as "psychic vampires" since they fed on most psychic energy generated from fear and terror. (COMIC: Dreamers of Death) Although the Seventh Doctor described it as a datavore, the Process also fed on the mental energy of the crew of the Time Scaphe.
