The step-daughter of Phineas Horton, as a child, she was accidentally doused with chemicals, which original Human Torch storyline readers will know were 'Horton Cells'. Guilty about the accident, Horton hypnotized Frankie so she would never use her powers and continue to have a normal life. As she grew close to Johnny the hypnotic suggestion wore off and her powers manifested. The mysterious couple, Jacob and Penny, decide that they need the Fantastic Four's help in Benson, Arizona.
