One distinctive feature of this model is the triple humbucking pickup configuration. Other features include a basswood body, a Wizard neck, a standard hard-tail bridge and Paul Gilbert's signature painted F-holes. The PGM200 was only available in Japan. Paul Gilbert himself played a couple of custom guitars similar to the PGM200, including a red and blue triple humbucking hard-tail guitar and an HSH tremolo-equipped guitar featuring the PGM200 color scheme, which he later also converted into a hard-tail.
