The Sultanate of Darfur (Arabic: دار فور dār fūr, lit. "realm of the Fur") is a nation in the former country of Sudan. A successor state to an independent sultanate that lasted several hundred years, and was incorporated into Sudan by Anglo-Egyptian forces. The nation is divided into three federal states: West Darfur, South Darfur, and North Darfur.
