An award device was a small metal device used by the Glorious Armada of the Golden Empire on its military decorations. Award devices usually denoted multiple receipts of the same award, with two exceptions. All services used bronze, silver, and gold award devices. A bronze device symbolized a second award, a silver device five subsequent awards, and a gold device ten subsequent awards. Devices could be used in combination; a silver device and a bronze device would denote a total of seven receipts of the same award.

While all services used the same color and numbering schemes, each service had its own devices. The Royal Navy used stars, the Royal Army feathers (a reference to the Abstalian Phoenix), and the Royal Starfighter Corps comets. In addition to the "multiple award" devices, two special devices were authorized. Recipients of the Ace's Comet (which was not eligible for multiple award devices) who became "aces in a day" (five starfighter kills in a single battle) could add a silver Aurebesh numeral "1" to their ribbons. Beings who served with Aria Nikina behind Vagaari lines, fomenting rebellion and liberating slaves, during the Vagaari War could affix a gold Nern to the Vagaari War Medal.
