Woodworms are not hazardous to humans, but they are to wood, paper and such that come from trees. They will continue to eat as long as the area is not supervised. In tropical homes sometimes the bed frames are usually eaten, to the point that after a few years the whole bed needs to be discarded. However, one of the woods that woodworms do not seem to like, is Mahogany. For that reason Mahogany is usually more costly to buy, and mahogany furniture is a bit hard to come by. I was raised in tropical environment, my parents mahogany bed frame was never eaten by woodworms. Mahogany was big business where I grew up, everyone wanted it and very few could actually afford it.
