Awere or awereness is a portmanteau, combining the words "Aware" and "Were". Its origins date back to the early days of the community. Saying one is awere means that one has undergone an awakening. "A pun commonly used in the community to denote one's knowledge of their own therianthropy, or one coming to terms with their therianthropy.
