The Thalkar-class was a type of heavy frigate that saw service with the Cardassian Guard during the 24th century. The Thalkar was designed to fulfill several roles, first and foremost was that of a planetary defense and system patrol craft. Its secondary function was that of an escort for larger more powerful Cardassian warships. This saw a ship with heavy shields, strong sensors and powerful engines. During the Dominion War the Thalkars were assigned to less important sections in fleet formations and many were destroyed in the final days of the war.
