Pirate Isles of the Forgotten Realms was a roleplaying persistent world, set in the Sea of Fallen Stars in the Forgotten Realms. The server was spread over various pirate isles and allowed travel by ship from isle to isle. Leveling was slow-paced, to emphasize character development. The world of Pirate Isles featured an impressive variety and quantity of areas for characters up to level 15 and expanded frequently; several new, unexplored areas of the server world were generically named, to be named by the first player to reach each of those areas and submit a screenshot of the newly explored area to the Pirate Isles forums. • Pirate Isles of the Forgotten Realms was a roleplaying persistent world, set in the Sea of Fallen Stars in the Forgotten Realms. Sunken sea wrecks and underwater sea caves, amongst other undersea locations, were available for exploration. A prominent goal was to feature rarely-seen CEP content and custom creatures like xvarts and dragon turtles. Pirate Isles had its own custom crafting system, based on the craft armor, craft weapon, lore (for alchemy) and spellcraft (for enchanting) skills. There were over fifty recipes at the time of the server's closing. The server offered a custom underwater combat system (based on pencil-and-paper underwater rules), which encouraged variety in weapon and armor choice (a huge greatsword is hard to swing underwater). To offer further variety, Pirate Isles featured a new post-spawn modification system that granted creatures dynamic bonuses to ensure that combat was never the same twice. Citing lack of interest and disillusionment with the playerbase, Dorkling/DM Half-Orcette resigned as server host and Head Admin in 2011, handing these duties over to Luckbringer. The server endured until Luckbringer finally returned to the Forgotten Realms Cormyr server to accept a Dungeon Master position (as DM Extropy) in 2013, closing Pirate Isles in the process.
