In his first appearance over the Emerald Hill Zone, the locals did not take him seriously until he started blasting their homes with his lasers. Tails chased after him, but wasn't able to follow when Sydney piloted the flying saucer into space. Nevertheless, Tails was able to lay a trap for him by arranging for a delivery of Golden Rings to be delivered from the Eldorado Zone to the Emerald Hill Zone. Sydney stole them, but their weight prevented his flying saucer from escaping and he crashed. Sydney was captured by Tails and put in prison.
