Originally following a career in music, Byron began acting at 20. For a time, Byron moved to Australia to drill for oil and gas in the Cooper Basin, and came back to England unable to find a place in drama school. Byron was in time accepted for ARTTS International in Bubwith, East Riding of Yorkshire. As of 1997, Byron has been married to Dr. Tanya Byron and has been father to two children, Lily and Jack.
