At this point, two separate bus systems operated in Staten Island, as another network of bus lines was operated by Tompkins Bus Co. In 1937, the Staten Island Coach Co. took over the Tompkins Bus Co. routes and the former Tompkins Bus Co. routes were given new route numbers in the 100's. In 1946, the Staten Island Coach Co. went bankrupt, and the Isle Transportation Co., a company organized by a group of Staten Island Coach Co. employees, began operating the buses on Staten Island.
