Pikachu slams on top of the opponent which knocks the opponent up. This was a chain grab in Brawl as well. However, more characters are susceptible to this chain grab then they were in Brawl due to Super Smash Flash 2 having more hitstun, no hitstun canceling and characters fall faster. Characters who are fast fallers and high fallers are more susceptible to this chain grab. Pikachu can also zero-to-death combo certain characters by just using this throw. However, the chain grab is able to escaped more easily due to characters being able to D.I. out, which couldn't be done in Brawl.

In demo v0.9b, characters like Fox, Captain Falcon and Bomberman are more susceptible to the chain grab due their increased accelerated falling speed. This allows Pikachu to chain grab them more easily compared to last demo, even with the lowered hitstun and at 0%. Pikachu can chain grab some high fallers at 0%, but they can escape it after a few throws. However, at percentages when they start to go into the reeling motion is when they become susceptible to the chain grab and its harder to escape.
